Call for Papers for the International Artvin Language, History, Culture and Civilization Symposium

The organizing committee is pleased to invite distinguished academics, researchers, and graduate students to the International Symposium on Artvin: Language, History, Culture, and Civilization, which aims to examine the historical heritage, cultural diversity, linguistic richness, and the role of Artvin as a bridge between civilizations through an interdisciplinary perspective.

Located in the northeastern part of Türkiye, on a significant transitional route between the Caucasus and Anatolia, Artvin has historically served as a zone of interaction among diverse peoples, languages, and cultures, distinguished by its multilayered social structure. Taking Artvin as its focal point, the symposium seeks to contribute to studies in language, history, culture, identity, migration, border studies, folklore, literature, and civilization studies.

The symposium will feature original scholarly contributions and aims to provide a platform for researchers from various disciplines to exchange knowledge and academic experience.

The symposium will be held face-to-face, and participation is free of charge.

Important Information About the Symposium

• The symposium is an international academic symposium.
• The symposium will be conducted primarily in person. Online participation will be available for international participants.
• Papers in both English and Turkish are accepted.
• No application or participation fee will be charged.
• The symposium fulfills the academic criteria for associate professorship applications in Türkiye.
• All accepted abstracts presented at the symposium will be published in an abstract proceedings book with an ISBN number. Full-text papers may, upon request, be published either in a full-text proceedings book with an ISBN number or as a book chapter by an international publishing house.
• Transportation and accommodation expenses will be covered by the participants themselves.
• The symposium is planned as a three-day event. During the first two days, participants will present their papers, while the third day will be devoted to a social and cultural program.
